Appearance: Black, thick creamy head with thin sticky lacing.
Aroma: Espresso, caramel, chocolate, roasted malt and a bit of smoke.
Taste: Sweet dark fruits(I’m picking up plums and cherries), toffee, caramel, alcohol, roasted coffee with bittersweet chocolate to finish.
Mouthfeel: Viscous consistency, tingly carbonation, full body with a longer than average dry finish.
The alcohol & sweetness hit you first and it is a bit overwhelming, but then the bitter notes kick in and balance this nautical beast. The carbonation wants you to think this is a crisp beer but then you realize you are chewing the damn thing. I want a slice of flour-less chocolate cake for some bittersweet pairing.
–After note– This beer is pretty easy to drink watch out for the 10.5%ABV
