Brasserie De Brunehaut – St Martin BruneSt Martins Brune

Appearance: Cloudy root beer brown, Average creamy &  foamy head that reduces to thin cream with spotty lacing.

Aroma: Sweet dark fruits (cherries, raisins, plums), caramel, alcohol, sweet malt and horse oats with a touch of ester.

Taste: Toffee, alcohol, dark breads, molasses, and some sweet white fruits.

Mouthfeel: Crisp consistency, spritzy carbonation, medium body with an average wet finish.

Found a bottle with a Dec ’09 birth date. Couldn’t pass that one up! It seems to have aged pretty gracefully. Make sure you wait for this beer to warm some right from the fridge, to open up fully. Sweet, fizzy and complex but I feel it is missing some OOMPH. Paired with spicy cured meat and pepper jack cheese, the sweetness mellowed out the heat nicely.
